BETHAL – Many residents were left without water for a few days because of a burst pipe and the reservoir running dry.
The pipe burst on the corner of Jabulani and Percy de Kock Streets on Wednesday, 24 October.
Municipal workers were onsite on the same day to fix the pipe, but then realised they needed a TLB to get to the pipes.
Deutrans supplied a TLB and municipal workers continued work on the pipes the next day (25 October).
However, the next day the TLB could not be used as the workers found concrete and a jack hammer was needed to open the road.
Deutrans supplied a jack hammer and the work could continue, but Ms Marietjie Fourie, DA Councillor, informed residents that it would still take a while as it took time to get through the concrete.
Residents in the Bethalrand area was also left without water on Friday, 26 October and Ms Fourie said she suspected the workers forgot to open the valve after they repaired the burst pipe.
She informed the regional manager and head of department and the pump was running again later on the same day.
