The Standerton Police are still awaiting the results of DNA pulled from a knife that was linked to the death of Mr Kas Roeloffze on 3 October.
Ms Charmaine de Jager, his girlfriend who stayed with him, was identified as the police’s suspect.
She denied killing Mr Roeloffze and said she believes he committed suicide, her neighbour, Mr Deon Smit, shared the same theory with the newspaper.
In light of the pending investigations, a rumour that the knife disappeared from evidence surfaced.
The Standerton Advertiser asked the communications officer of the police, Capt Fanie Nhlabathi, whether there was any truth to this, but he reassured the newspaper that the knife was still in forensic’s possession.
Questions were also posed to Brig Augustine Mngomezulu about how long the processing of DNA results typically take, he said it should take no longer than six months.
