eMZINONI – A 23-year-old woman was allegedly raped by a gang of armed men in the presence of her boyfriend in Extension 21 on Saturday, 1 December.
It is alleged that she was sleeping in her room and her boyfriend in the dining room, when he heard a noise in the yard.
Upon investigation, a gang of about nine men forcefully entered the house.
She said that she then heard her boyfriend screaming for help.
Police said the woman was afraid to go to the dining room to check what was happening.
She allegedly stayed in the bedroom when two of the perpetrators entered and one pointed a firearm at her while the other threatened to stab her.
According to the police, the men raped the woman and afterward demanded money from her.
She allegedly gave them R1 400.
Her boyfriend was assaulted during the attack.
The perpetrators fled the scene when they saw a police van passing by.
No arrests were made.
