Standerton/Sakhile matriculants on their way to adulthood

The chairman of Umalusi, Mr John Volmink, said this year’s results reflect an upward trend in subjects such as science and mathematics.

The quality assurance council, Umalusi, made the results for candidates who wrote the National Senior Certificate examinations known on 4 January and learners from local schools awaited the results with bated breaths.

Hoërskool Standerton has a 97% pass rate and Pamela van der Merwe distinguished herself with seven distinctions with an overall average of 88,0%.

Hoërskool George Hofmeyr claimed a 100% pass rate for the 11th year and the principal, Ms Magda Kriel, was overjoyed.

“It was plenty of grace and I am grateful,” Ms Kriel said.

She was especially impressed with the 75% average obtained in Afrikaans second additional language.
