TRICHARDT – The dilapidated blue caravan at the Barney Molokwane Street entrance to Trichardt has been removed.

The Govan Mbeki Municipality’s team tasked with imposing municipal bylaws cracked down on the illegal food vendor and other establishments that did not comply with the various bylaws on Thursday, 7 February.

GMM, with the help of the Trichardt Community Policing Forum, went over to action after these establishments ignored numerous prior warnings.

The infamous “Blue Caravan” at the Trichardt entrance have attracted many complaints and many eyebrows were raised over the past two years. Mr Bernard Liebenberg, vice chairman of the Trichardt CPF, said the Trichardt community informed the bylaws department of violations and asked that action be taken.

The Trichardt Police oversaw the project on 7 February to ensure that all the relevant protocols were followed and that everything went smoothly.

“It is important to note that the caravan was removed without protest. GTR assisted us with a truck to safely remove the caravan,” said Mr Liebenberg.
