Taxi driver seriously injured at Brendan Village turn-off on R546

Emergency workers rescue driver trom wrecked taxi

EVANDER – A seriously injured taxi driver was rushed to hospital after an accident on the R546 near the Adullam and Brendan Village turn-off this afternoon, 21 March.

According to Mr Alf Byleveldt from Jelani Security the driver was travelling alone from Evander to eMbalenhle.

The vehicle apparently swerved across and then off the right side of the road, ploughed through the veld, and flew clean accross Brendan road before the impact of a signboard post brought it to a stop.

“The taxi was literally airborne,” said Mr Byleveldt.

The man was trapped inside the vehicle and rescue workers had to cut him out of the wreck.
