BETHAL – Thembalethu Richard Dladla (26) was recently sentenced to five years imprisonment for burglary and theft by the Bethal Magistrate’s Court.
He is convicted for the crime he committed in October 2018.
He was arrested after he was found in possession of suspected stolen property which were identified by the complainant from a burglary case.
Furthermore, fingerprints on a window that were found at the burglary scene matched those of Dladla.
Det/Const December Jele’s investigation evidence given during court proceedings was recorded as sufficient, and led to the conviction of Dladla.
He was sentenced five years’ imprisonment and in terms of Section 103, Act 60/2000 of Firearms Control Act, he was also declared unfit to possess a firearm.
Lt Col Petrus Nzima, station commander, said: “Bethal is facing a major challenge with the recent number of burglary cases being reported.
We hope and believe that the sentencing of Dladla will send a clear message to other criminals planning to commit a similar offence.
“We commended Det/Const Jele for the hard work and dedication in securing the conviction.”
