According to the municipality, the pump challenges have been temporarily resolved.
The municipality estimated that by 9pm yesterday evening all clear water pumping units would be running and the low lying areas would begin receiving water.
They thanked the community for the support and understanding during this period.
UPDATE: 27 March – 11am
The Facebook-page of the municipality informed the community that the standby pump has been sent for repairs and that they are in the process of installing a temporary pump.
According to the statement, the process of filling up the reservoirs will begin as soon as the temporary pump has been installed.
Since all pipes are currently empty, it will take a full day to fill up the pipes.
UPDATE: 27 March – 8.55am
Ms Thando Nkosi of the communications department of the Lekwa Municipality said this morning that water supply could probably be restored by 5pm.
The Standerton Advertiser enquired whether a press release will be issued to explain the technical work done at the Standerton Water Treatment Plant.
An undertaking was made to forward the request to Ms Thobeka Mtshiselwa, communications manager.
The Lekwa Municipality issued an urgent notice about water interruptions in Standerton.
According to Ms Thobeka Mtshiselwa, communications manager, workers are attending to a non-functioning pump at the Standerton Water Treatment Plant.
Ms Mtshiselwa indicated that all wards will be affected and urged the community to store water during this period.
The time-frame for interruptions could not be confirmed.
