Stephanie is semi-finalist in Mrs South Africa 2019
Winner will be crowned end of June
SECUNDA – Ms Stephanie van den Berg (29) who was born and raised in Secunda, was chosen to be a semi-finalist in the Tammy Taylor Mrs South Africa 2019 competition.
She traded Secunda for Johannesburg in 2008 after she finished school and began working in the motor industry where she still works today.
Ms Van den Berg’s journey with Mrs South Africa began on 1 March when she was invited for a second national casting empowerment workshop held at Emperors Palace in Johannesburg.
She attended workshops for a week along with the other contestants to prepare them for the journey ahead.
Tammy Taylor Mrs South Africa gained the reputation of a women empowerment programme that prides itself on producing the very best in real, relatable and modern South African women.
According to Ms Van den Berg, the programme celebrates marriage and the essence of being a real woman.
The programme was created for married women who would ordinarily not have such a platform to compete and be ambassadors for South Africa, on a global scale.
“This is the opportunity of a lifetime for me,” said Ms Van den Berg.
The winner will be announced on 28 June in Johannesburg.
All proceeds of the event will go to the pageant’s official charity organisation, Women4Women South Africa.
The Tammy Taylor Mrs South Africa is not the typical beauty pageant, as it offers South African women who has real life careers, families and hobbies, a platform to make a difference.
Ms Van den Berg is married to the love of her life, Mr Jean van den Berg and is a mother to two boys aged two and five.
In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, riding motorcycles and to be outdoors in nature.
