Police make successful arrests in Secunda during mass partrol

Police and others join hands in fighting crime

SECUNDA – The local police, members of Sector 2, 3 and 4 of the community policing forum (CPF), AfriForum, and the Vryheidsfront Plus (VF+), took hands on Friday evening, 22 March, in a mass patrol action through Secunda.

They arrested four people for driving under the influence of alcohol, one man for dealing in drugs, and one person for driving without a license.

Brig Sifiso Cele, cluster commander of Secunda cluster, spoke to the group before the patrol began and said safety is the most important aspect.

“Safety comes first, make sure you are safe before you respond. “If we make arrests we must be professional,” said Brig Cele.

The police and members from the different organisations that joined, focused on people driving under the influence of alcohol, the procession of drugs and searched for illegal firearms.

Brig Cele said the number of motorists driving under the influence in Secunda must be minimised.

Col Maggie Mbokane divided the members into three groups and dispatched each group to a different street in Secunda.
