Department of Agriculture, Rural Development, Land and Environmental Affairs launches Zonda Indlala program

The Department has planted apple trees in four households within the Ermelo area and more trees are still to be planted.

The Zonda Indlala Program which will be rolled out across the province was officially launched by MEC of Agriculture, Rural Development, Land and Environmental Affairs, Vusi Shongwe, in Ermelo at the Mpumalanga Stadium on Friday, 26 April.

In his address, Mr Shongwe stated that the existing trees and those still to be planted in every household will not only address food security but will be used in greening the province, as windbreakers and climatic change mitigation.

The department has planted apple trees in four households within the Ermelo area and more trees are still to be planted.

Mr Shongwe said that the department is striving to ensure that people of this province will not go to sleep with hungry stomachs.
