Angel Khanyile launches foundation
“The foundation aims to alleviate poverty, help people living with disabilities and help the unemployed youth.”
Ms Angel Khanyile, Democratic Alliance’s Member of Parliament, recently launched her Angel Foundation under the theme ‘Umuntu ngumuntu ngabantu’ which translates to ‘We are the solution’.
Ms Khanyile addressed guests at a function on the youth’s problems inherent to their situation.
“It was a success and educational,” Ms Khanyile said.
Speakers touched on issues affecting people with disabilities and also how a shift from ‘ubuntu’ is taking place when copying other people’s way of living.
One of the speakers shared a story that left most attendees introspective as to whether they are doing enough to support their children and family members.
She referred to an ordeal and the community’s reaction which saw many people shedding tears.
According to Ms Khanyile, the decision to establish the foundation was influenced by her experiences while doing political groundwork within the community.
“The foundation aims to alleviate poverty, help people living with disabilities and help orphans and children from child-headed households and the unemployed youth, as well as create awareness on gender-based-violence.”
She also encouraged young people to be job creators.
“I urge people to support the foundation by donating their time and to help with information.
“Financial help will also be appreciated.”
