The South African National Civic Organisation (Sanco) visited four children, a baby and their mother at the Standerton Hospital on Wednesday, 26 June after alleged abuse by the father.
The family lives in Ext 8 and the father allegedly burned them with boiling water.
Sanco gave clothes, food and cosmetics to the family and sent a strong message about women and children abuse.
According to Ms Sintle Molefe of Sanco, the organisation is going to oppose any bail for the perpetrator.
According to information, all the children are under hospital care and social workers apparently requested the mother to find someone else to take care of four of the children until she is discharged.
Only the infant will be under hospital care.
According to Ms Molefe, Sanco will try to meet with the CEO of the hospital to request that all the children stay in hospital because they have nowhere to go.
The mother’s family has been located.
According to information, the suspect appeared in the Standerton Magistrate’s Court and the case was postponed to 11 July.
The suspect was remanded in custody.
