Themba Moses Daniel Shongwe was sentenced to 25 years imprisonment for raping two children and exposing them to pornography.
Shongwe was sentenced by the Secunda Children’s Court on three counts of child rape and two counts of child exposure to pornography.
It is not certain when he showed the children pornographic videos, but it is suspected that he did so before he sexually assaulted them.
When the incident took place, the victims were between the ages of 8 and 11.
The children were sent on an errand by one of their grandparents and when they arrived, Shongwe locked the door behind them and used tape to close their mouths.
He used rope to tie their hands and feet and then hid them in the wardrobe.
They were threatened with a knife, should they scream or try to escape.
He then took turns to rape the children and told them he would kill them if they tell anyone.
When he was finished, he gave them money and told them to leave.
As soon as the children arrived home, they told their sister what happened who reported it to their mother.
The mother reported it to the police and Shongwe was identified and arrested at his house where the crime took place.
