Protesters steal soap and cleaning materials from truck

Protesters who have been regularly burning tyres on the R23 because of electricity interruptions allegedly assaulted the driver.

A truck with a full load of goods consisting of soap and cleaning materials was stopped on the R23 where it joins Sydney de Lange Street the evening of 22 July.

According to an anonymous source, many parts of the township have power outages from 5pm onwards as well as early in the morning.

Kasselman Security Services (KSS) and the Standerton Police were on the scene.

According to Mr Jandré Kasselman of KSS, the protester began offloading the truck.

“We decided to withdraw our officers since police were handling the situation,” Mr Kasselman said.
