Tim Cochrane will continue in established Lions’ practices
The community has often seen their stalls in town whether a diabetes screening, a hearing project, a seeing project and the elderly gladly join them at the annual Christmas lunch.
Lion Tim Cochrane, newly elected president of the Standerton Lions Club, is firmly rooted in the community and shared his vision for the club with quiet determination.
“We will try to alleviate the suffering of the poor in town,” he said.
Lion Tim Taylor introduced him to the club many moons ago and their usual initiatives will not grind to a halt.
The community has often seen their stalls in town, whether a diabetes screening, a hearing project or a seeing project, and the elderly gladly join them at the annual Christmas lunch.
“We will continue in this vein,” he mentioned.
Mr Cochrane alluded to churches that help with much-needed support as well as people in the community.
This father of four and grandfather of 10 arrived in Standerton in 1982 where he joined Early Bird, before running his own paving business for 10 years.
He has been married to Annetjie for 27 years.
Nowadays you will find Lion Tim at Mica in town, applying his expertise at the receiving end of the business and the Standerton Advertiser squeezed in a short interview before his attention was needed elsewhere.
An important message however, was relayed to the community.
Residents who receive new glasses after a visit to the optometrist, can hand in their old spectacles at either Mr Donovan Henri at Maximed in Princess Street or Mr Cochrane in Church Street.
Rest assured, it will certainly be put to good use.
“The Lions will try to make a difference in the lives of those living below the breadline,” the president concluded.
