Secunda Mall cops buy food for créche in eMbalenhle

The guards raised about R500 with which they bought soup, tins of food, mieliemeel, oranges, potatoes and toilet paper

SECUNDA – Fidelity guards working at the Secunda Mall were so touched by an outreach to the Treasure Hunters Care Centre in eMbalenhle on Mandela Day, that they decided to buy groceries for the school.

Mr Regional Moletsane and Ms Mamoketi Mahalapa were part of the Mall crew who cleaned up around the care centre on 18 July.

The work done at this daycare, as well as the minimal resources available, inspired them do more.

Ms Mahalapa spoke to her friends in the control room, Ms Constance Mathabela, Ms Nosipho Ngemntu and Ms Nomkhaya Mehlomakhulu who immediately took the reins of this project.

It did not take much to convince the 32 mall cops to contribute money toward their own outreach.

“Security guards do not earn much, yet each one was willing to add to the pool on pay day,” said Mr Louis Bothma, chief of the Fidelity security guards at the Secunda Mall.

The guards raised about R500 with which they bought soup, tins of food, mieliemeel, oranges, potatoes and toilet paper.

The Mall management dropped off the donation at the school on Wednesday, 31 July.

Mr Bothma said the guards indicated that they want to make a similar contribution at the end of August.
