More than a hundred finish night race

When the Standerton Advertiser arrived just before 5pm, Marli and Hanli Griesel were raring to go, confidently stating their experience in the parkrun would give them the necessary stamina.

The Maximed Night Race took place from the sport grounds of Hoƫrskool Standerton on Wednesday 2 October with registration already underway at 5pm for the official start at 7pm.

Lekwa Clean Up Crew came to the party and temporarily repaired some potholes for for the 5km and 10km races, thanking Mr Piet Boer and Sahara Sand for their contribution.

Chriselle Roberts was first for the women in the 10km open category in a time of 41 min 14 sec, Michelle Parks second in 41 min 37 sec and Phindile Dlamini third in 46 min 16 sec.

Makhosasana Nkala took first position for the veterans, 40 to 49 years, in 50 min 11 sec and Ilse Ferreira second in 50 min 26 sec.

Wilna Jordaan was first in the 60 to 69 years masters category in 1:01,25, Jeanette Botha first in the 70+ category in 1:15,15 and Michelle Parks first in the junior category in 41 min 37 sec.

The open category for men saw Kathlego Moloi obtaining first position in 31 min 31 sec, followed by Kathleha Khanye in 33 min 24 sec and Jabulani Mthobeni in 34 min 43 sec. Simon Sibisi was first for the veterans, 40 to 49 years, in 34 min 21 sec and PJ Sibande second in 38 min 23 sec.

Abednego Shongwe ended first in the masters category, 50 to 59 years, in 39 min 12 sec and Daniel Mbule second in 46 min 16 sec.

Johan Makhanya claimed first position in the masters category, 60 to 69 years, in 47 min 41 sec, Frikkie Botha was first in the 70+ category in 1:15,15 and Martin Vilakazi first for the walkers in 59 min 23 sec.

The club thanked Maximed, the Lekwa Municipality, Kasselman Security Services, traffic officers, businesses, LCUC and everybody who helped to ensure smooth running for all the participants.
