Phumzile and Hope give stellar performances in games

The team won 11 medals compared to five last year.

Phumzile Ndlovu from Khula-Sakhile Secondary School and Hope Nxumalo from Madi Combined School recently competed respectively in morabaraba and incuva at the National Indigenous Games Festival in Polokwane.

They kept Mpumalanga in the hunt for a top-three finish and Phumzile and Hope both obtained a bronze medal.

According to the Department of Culture, Sport and Recreation, the improvement was recorded at the back of good preparations before the event and players delivered a stellar performance.

The team won 11 medals compared to five last year.

Gauteng was first in school sport, followed by KwaZulu-Natal, North-West, Limpopo, Eastern Cape, Western Cape, Mpumalanga, Northern Cape and Free State.

KwaZulu-Natal was first in community sport, followed by Limpopo, Western Cape, Northern Cape, Mpumalanga, North-West, Gauteng, Free State and Eastern Cape.
