Blood service calls on donors to still give blood

Precautionary measures have been put into place to ensure continued safety of blood and blood products.

HIGHVELD – People can still donate blood despite the national lockdown.
The South African National Blood Service (SANBS) branches in Secunda and Bethal are open Monday to Friday from 8am to 6pm and on Saturday and Sunday from 8am to 2pm.
As a cornerstone of healthcare in South Africa, the blood service takes the health of all residents seriously.
Thus precautionary measures have been put into place to ensure continued safety of blood and blood products.
People who will be deferred from donating blood are those who have travelled to affected countries outside of South Africa, people with confirmed cases of coronavirus and people who have been on close contact with confirmed or suspected coronavius cases.
Contact the blood service before you visit them and they will send you a SMS stating that you are going to donate blood.
Contact them at 017 631 1652.
Visit SANBS in Secunda in Horwood Street or in Bethal near Spar.
