Chief Albert Luthuli Municipality celebrates Nelson Mandela Day

They also celebrated the birthdays of four members of the community with a combined age of 412 years.

The rxecutive mayor of Chief Albert Luthuli Municipality (CALM) Mr Dan Nkosi, together with members of Ward 18 and Ward 13 celebrated Nelson Mandela day this year by giving back to the elderly people of the community.

Councillor Dan Nkosi, together with the ward councilors, Messrs GJ Nkosi, JD Shongwe and other members, handed over food parcels to elderly citizens of the respective wards and educated them about Covid-19 and how they should keep themselves safe.

They also celebrated the birthdays of four members of the community with a combined age of 412 years.

Ms Masina turned 104 years this month, Mr Tshabalala 100 years, Ms Ndlela 107 years and Mr Phiri 101.

Mr Thapelo Phetla, spokesman for Chief Albert Luthuli Municipality, said they chose to spend time with the elderly and donated food parcels as it was a cause that was close to the heart of Nelson Mandela.
