SECUNDA – Another woman was the target of a hijacker this morning, 18 August.

She managed to speed off but not before her attacker shot at her.

The 30-year-old victim was leaving her home in Animo Street for work just after 6am when she noticed a man walking in the street towards her.

According to the police, the woman tried to avoid the pedestrian, but he suddenly made for the driver’s side and tried to open the door. It was locked.

The man then pulled out a silver handgun which he pointed at her. He demanded in Zulu that she gets out of the vehicle.

When the woman refused, the hijacker pulled the trigger. The bullet struck the door on the driver’s side, shattering the window.

The woman sped off and her attacker fled in the opposite direction.

The man is described as tall, bald and clean shaven and he has a dark caramel complexion.

He wore a two piece protective Sasol overall. He has gold in his front top and bottom teeth.

A gunman matching this description also hijacked a woman in front of her home in Oranjerivier Street on the morning of 4 August.

She was coming home from night shift when the hijacker struck in a similar fashion.

The culprit tried to force this woman into the car with him, but she managed to run off.

He fled with the car in the direction of Gauteng.

The police again warned motorists to be extra cautious and vigilant, especially when they are about to leave their home for work or on their return.

If you see someone in the street when you are about to pull into your driveway, rather drive on and around the block until the coast is clear.
