The operation began at 8.30am and was completed at about 3pm.

One suspect was arrested in connection with fishing by unlawful effort.

The suspect appeared in the Standerton Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 27 August and the case was withdrawn.

Capt Grobler said fishing as such is not prohibited, but the use of nets is handled differently

“Anyone can angle, provided a permit has been issued, with two rods and two fish-hooks per line,” Capt Grobler added.

He concluded by saying few arrests are done on these operations and the costs involved, have to be taken into consideration.
