[WATCH] Family wants answers to freak accident in Bethal
From what can be seen on video footage obtained from a local business, a trailer had unhooked from a silver double cab Toyota bakkie, colliding with a woman (39) who was pushing a stroller with a one-year-old child in it. A 14-year-old girl who was with the woman, was also knocked over.
BETHAL – A freak accident happened on Friday, 28 August, on Station Road at the second speed hump from town, close to the traffic department.
From what can be seen on video footage obtained from a local business, a trailer had unhooked from a silver double cab Toyota bakkie, colliding with a woman (39) who was pushing a stroller with a one-year-old child in it. A 14-year-old girl who was with the woman, was also knocked over.
The husband of the woman, Mr Dawid Kruger, had since been in contact with the police, but is unable to open a case at the station.
“The police told me only my wife can open a case,” said Mr Kruger.
The woman had sustained severe injuries resulting in three broken vertebrae and ribs. Both her lungs had collapsed. She had sustained significant injuries to the right side of her body.
The 14-year-old sustained concussion, however she is recovering at home.
The woman was transported to Bethal Hospital. She was transported to Mediclinic Highveld. Once stable, the woman was transferred to the ICU at Union Hospital in Alberton.
