DA says management at Lekwa is acting irresponsible by not finalising construction of Standerton Mall
“There is not a single brick in sight that shows that any construction is actually going to take place,” Ms Silosini added.
The DA is of the opinion that the construction and development of the Standerton Mall is fast becoming a myth.
The Standerton Advertiser has on more than occasion reported on the situation.
Ms Sithi Silosini, PR-counsellor of the DA, sent a press release on Friday, 18 September outlining some of the background. She said delays in signing service level agreements are chasing away investors, developers and national retailers.
The construction of the mall was approved in council in 2016 and a soil-turning event in 2017 followed.

“There is not a single brick in sight that shows that any construction is actually going to take place,” Ms Silosini added.
The DA marched to the municipal offices in February last year with a memorandum, demanding that the construction of the mall begins immediately for much-needed jobs to be created. According to her, a thousand jobs will be created.
Ms Silosini concluded with saying the mayor, municipal manager and head of departments are acting senseless and grossly irresponsible by dragging their feet on approving and signing the necessary documentation.
The party intends to write to the municipal manager, Ms Gugulethu Mhlongo-Ntshangase, requesting that all documents approved in council six weeks ago, are signed.
