A shampoo-advertisement depicting the difference between the hair of black and white women caused nationwide protests at several retail outlets.
A video also did the rounds on social media.
The Ahmed Kathrada Foundation recently sent a press release, following the publication of the advertisement on Clicks’ website.
According to the statement, the CEO Mr Vikesh Ramsunder, acknowledged that there was no excuse for the advertisement.
Clicks however, accepted responsibility for not vetting the content before it was uploaded and all employees responsible for enabling the advertisement to go live, have since been suspended and a senior manager, responsible for that area of work, had resigned.
Proactive measures to prevent incidents of this nature to reoccur, would be implemented.
Mr Dippenaar’s businesses were closed on Friday, 11 September, with red tape preventing entry to the filling station and fast-food establishment in Walter Sisulu Drive.
A police vehicle was seen outside as was the case at the court.
