Dr Raman receives award for being top diplomate
GP in Secunda receives Joan and Ian Webster medal in Occupational Health from Wits
SECUNDA – Dr Gareth Raman, local general practitioner, received an award from the Wits Medical School Faculty of Health Sciences for being the most distinguished and top diplomate in the PG Diploma in Occupational Health.
The award, the Joan and Ian Webster medal in Occupational Health, was presented to Dr Raman on Wednesday, 9 September.
Dr Raman has had a private practice in Secunda for 17 years and said he has worked in many part-time jobs to pay for his undergraduate studies to become a doctor.
He attributes these hardships and experiences to character building and a profound perseverance to succeed.
He holds several degrees and recently completed the post graduate diploma in Occupational Health.
Dr Raman is the executive head of GP Raman Medical Centre in Secunda as well as the CEO of IC Health in Secunda.
He is passionate about economic transformation and community upliftment and funded several outreach programmes in the area.
He is thankful to God for everything in his life and he thanked his wife and two children for their support through the years of intensive studying.
Dr Raman said he lives by Romans 8:28: “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”
