17-year-old girl raped in Wesselton, Ermelo

According to Capt Carla Prinsloo, spokesman for Ermelo Police, the young girl and her cousin were walking in the street when a group of unknown men passed them.

A 17-year-old girl was raped in Mbabane Street in Wesselton at about 8pm on 20 September.

According to Capt Carla Prinsloo, spokesman for Ermelo Police, the young girl and her cousin were walking in the street when a group of unknown men passed them.

The men assaulted the girl’s cousin, while one of them raped her.

“Her cousin managed to escape from the men and ran to Wesselton Police Station for help.”

On their return, the suspects had already fled the scene.

The police urged any person with information that can help in the investigation, to contact Capt Mathebula at 072 229 8118.
