Gert Sibande College conducts boot camp for entrepreneurs
“I want to encourage you all to incorporate the use of technology in your businesses,” said Ms Portia Mange, principal .

Gert Sibande TVET College Centre for Entrepreneurship Rapid Incubator (CVERI) held an entrepreneurship boot camp in Standerton at the college’s guesthouse from 15 to 18 September.
According to a press release, the purpose was to conduct a finance and non-financial management-workshop. Their marketing department is of the opinion the training will help entrepreneurs to face the world of business with confidence.
The principal, Ms Portia Mange, opened the camp and briefly spoke about the background of the college and its functioning. According to Ms Mange, there is a great need to create more entrepreneurs to help government in creating employment opportunities.
“I want to encourage you all to incorporate the use of technology in your businesses,” she said. She concluded by wishing all the entrepreneurs success in their business ventures and encouraged them to create more innovation space for a better target market.
The deputy principal of corporate services, Mr Jannie Pretorius, said challenges should be embraced and used to guide entrepreneurs as it drives innovation and forces focus. Mr Pretorius urged them to use the services of the centre and added that the college has invested a lot on such activities.
The camp covered the basic elements of income and expenditure, basic elements of a balance sheet, personal assets and liabilities statement, the use of financial statements, fundraising sponsorship and resource mobilisation.
“The training was worth it and an eye-opener when it comes to the finances of my business,” one business owner said. Another business owner said the training was a turning point in her company.
