Rape cases are on the rise in eMbalenhle

Police warned residents to be careful, following several cases of rape being reported over one weekend.

eMBALENHLE – Local police are concerned about the escalating number of rape cases after several incidents occurred the past week.

In extension 18 a woman was walking at about 3pm on Sunday, 4 October when she came across a man who demanded to speak to her. The man forcefully dragged the 30-year-old woman to a certain house where he told the woman that he loved her.

It is alleged that he then undressed himself, then forcefully undress the victim and raped her.

In another incident, a 20-year-old woman was cleaning her room when a man she knows called her to his room. Upon her arrival, the man closed the door behind her and then raped her. It is alleged that the suspect threatened to kill the victim if she screams.

The police are also looking for a man who raped the mother of his child.

According to the police, the suspect invited the victim into his house to discuss pressing matter about their child. Police said when the victim arrived the suspect locked the gates and doors.
He then became aggressive and raped the victim.
