The Mpumalanga Department of Education is satisfied with the progress of the preparatory examination for grade 12 learners.
According to a media statement released by the department on 21 September, it was the second week for the preparatory examination.
This examination began on 14 September and will proceed until 19 October.
Mr Jasper Zwane, spokesman of Mpumalanga Department of Education, said : “This examination provides grade 12 learners with an opportunity to gauge or measure their readiness using similar tools as the end of the year examinations.”
Mr Gerald Sambo, spokesman of Mpumalanga Department of Education, added, the preparatory exams allows both the school and learners to finish the curriculum on time so that revision is done.
Mr Sambo said: “It assists in revealing the strengths and weakness of each learner and allows time for tailor-made support to be provided.”
Some question papers were externally moderated to guarantee the school and learners satisfy the cognitive levels as required by the examination guidelines and curriculum guidelines.
According to the statement, the marks obtained by learners are used as part of the School Based Assessment(SBA).
