Motorists queue for hours at vehicle licensing department in Secunda
Department fails to reply to questions.
SECUNDA – Residents can expect nothing less than standing in a queue for four hours at the vehicle licensing department in Secunda when they want to renew their vehicle licenses.
Many residents have resorted to paying a third party or entrepreneur who saw an opportunity to make money by queueing on behalf of residents.
The Ridge Times received numerous complaints from residents about the vehicle licensing department and the poor service they received.
People already begin queueing at 5am and on some days are told to go home empty-handed as the computers are offline or the department has already reached the number of people to be helped on one day and thus cannot help more people.
One man had to put in three days’ leave at work just to sort out his vehicle license.
A Ridge Times reporter was also met with rudeness when she demanded to speak to the manager.
One of the employees told Ridge Times that it was a compliment to have the newspaper at the licensing department.
The Ridge Times also published an article about the poor service at the vehicle licensing department last year and it seems as if nothing has changed.
Litter at the gate to Govan Mbeki Municipality where the vehicle licensing department’s offices are situated, looks like it has not been cleaned in weeks.
The communications department of the Mpumalanga Department of Public Works, Roads and Transport failed to answer questions sent to them on 15 September and again 16 October.
