Mr Michael Mashabela, student support officer of the Gert Sibande TVET College, addressed management and staff at their awards ceremony on Friday, 16 October.
The purpose was to award those students for their excellence and hard work last year.
The ceremony began with the singing of the national anthem, followed by a prayer.
Restrictions of Covid-19 were adhered to, from entering the premises to walking into the hall.
Mr Mashabela said the college obtained the third place on national level, with only TVET-colleges in the Western Cape surpassing them.
Students received certificates in recognition of academic excellence, as well as laptops and tablets.
