SACP embarks in a cleaning campaign in eMbalenhle

SACP promotes clean environment.

eMBALENHLE – Members of South African Communists Party (SACP) took part in a cleaning campaign in Ward 12 on Saturday, 17 October, in an attempt to eradicate the escalation of illegal dumping of waste and littering in the area.

This party believes that littering and illegal dumping of garbage not only make the township filthy, but also pose a health hazard to everyone.

Mr Jabulani Mthimkhulu said locals often dump old household items, construction waste and other waste at non-designated dumping sites.

He said the residents have blamed this to the none collection of waste by the Govan Mbeki Municipality.

“We are calling on residents to take responsibility and take a stand against the practice of littering.

“This garbage is causing a stench which is posing serious health hazards.”

Members of the SACP cleaned the streets of Ward 12 on Saturday, 17 October.
