Matrics 2020 in Govan Mbeki municipal area obtain distinctions

The Highveld Muslim Combined School's matric class of 2020 achieved a hundred per cent pass rate.

HIGHVELD – The Highveld Muslim Combined School’s matric class of 2020 achieved a hundred per cent pass rate and 75 per cent of this school’s learners obtained university exemption.

Hoërskool Secunda obtained a 98.9 per cent pass rate with 69.61 per cent of the learners passing with university exemption and a total of 153 distinctions.

Hoërskool Secunda’s top matric learners for 2020 are Sonél de la Rey, Wian du Toit, FG Visser and Ruchelle van Heerden who each obtained seven distinctions.

Caylib van der Walt obtained six distinctions and Sunike Nel, Umar Rasool, Huibrie Kooij, Wendy Masilela, Annika Venter and Luné Meyer each obtained five distinctions.

Kumbukani Mathembu, Shené Botha, Stephan Oberholzer, Henru Hugo and Jan-Hendrik Vermaas each received four distinctions.

Hoërskool Hoogenhout achieved a 92 per cent pass rate with 51 per cent of the learners passing with university exemption and a total of 28 distinctions. Hoogenhout’s top achiever is Idelize Jansen van Vuuren who obtained six distinctions.

Hoërskool Oosterland obtained a 88 per cent pass rate with a total of 71 distinctions and 52 per cent of this school’s learners passed with university exemption.

Oosterland’s top achiever is Janco Viljoen with seven distinctions and he also ranked number eight in Mpumalanga and was invited to the Department of Education’s prestige awards function that was held in Nelspruit last week. He won R10 000 and items for university.

Oosterland’s other top achiever is Sunelle de Bruyn, also with seven distinctions.

The other top achievers at Hoërskool Oosterland are Simoné Basson, Bianca Boshoff, Anél Pretorius and Kyla van der Merwe who each achieved four distinctions.

Hoërskool Evander High School’s top matric learners are Thandiwe Bahlekazi who obtained three distinctions and Xolane Thabethe who also obtained three distinctions.

Highveld Park High School’s top matric learner of 2020 is Job Mhlanga with five distinctions.

The other learners who excelled are Panashe Siliya, Colleen Bellows and Ndalo Mokoena with two distinctions each.

Simphiwe Malinga of Kusasalethu Secondary School is this school’s top matriculant with seven distinctions. He also received an award for maths and physical science at the Best Provincial Achievers’ function in Nelspruit.
