Ligbron Academy of Technology celebrates Finesse and Ridder Week

Liggies celebrate Finesse and Ridder Week from 15 to 19 March.

Ms Saretha Ferns, youth worker at Ligbron Academy of Technology, is the organiser of Finesse Week and Mr Gert Pretorius, teacher at Ligbron, is the organiser of Ridder Week.

“This is a week where we invest in the learners.

“The idea is to encourage our learners and remind them that they are here for a purpose,” Ms Ferns said.

Mr Lukas Korff, motivational speaker and top-selling author from Cape Town, was the guest speaker.

He Zoomed in and gave the whole school a message during their opening assembly on 15 March.

He has a Youtube channel called ‘The Korffies’ where he motivates people that nothing is impossible.

Ms Ferns gave an opening to begin the day on 16 March and learners enjoyed a special worship evening which began at 6.30pm.

“Fire to be a lady with Finesse” will be presented by Dane in the morning for all the girls.

“We wanted to invest in our girls and to make them realise that God made them to be special,” Ms Ferns said. According to Ms Ferns, they gave away gifts and gift vouchers that were sponsored by local salons.

The boys enjoyed a fishing trip during the afternoon of 17 March.

Ms Ferns will be opening on 19 March and learners will wear casual clothes to school in spirit of ‘Free to be me!’
