EVANDER – Mandisa Dhlamini from Evander High School was elected as the new junior station commander of the Evander Police Station.
Learners were given topics to present and contested for the position.
Mandisa was elected after she offered an excellent presentation on school safety measures.
Sgt Zukiswa Mxhotyelwa, Evander Police spokesperson, said as is required from a junior station commander, Mandisa will be a connecting force between learners and the police on issues of crime that affect schools and individual learners.
“We even established a youth desk for all young people to give information about crime, either at their school or home.
“This will assist us to fight crimes such as bullying and drug abuse at our schools,” said Sgt Mxhotyelwa.
Mandisa pledged to ensure that there is awareness created amongst learners about the dangers of using drugs and its relation to crime and the consequences thereof.
