Ms Nanette Botha, a teacher of Netherland Park Secondary School, achieved a ninth place in a national writing competition on 26 June.
She took part in a 10 week competition during which she had to submit writing on different topics and word counts.
She was invited to the gala dinner.
“I didn’t participate for me, I participated to make my school proud,” she said.
The competition initially began with 216 participants who were critiqued by a panel of judges and were later reduced to only the top 10.
