MSUKALIGWA – Msukaligwa Local Municipality’s consumers will be given special incentives to have their debt written off, until August 31.
This is possible to all qualifying consumers, allowing “once-off incentives per consumer” with debt ending on December 31, 2020.
According to a notice released by the municipality, this is aimed at improving service delivery and to inculcate a culture of payment for services rendered.
The once-off incentive per household will be implemented as follows:
• A once-off arrangement with the affected consumers who immediately pay 50% of their outstanding debt as on December 31, 2020; the remainder (the other 50%) is immediately written off; or
• A consumer who applies pays 50% off the debt over a maximum period of eight months from the date of application, but not later than August 31, and the remaining 50% of their debt arrears will be written off, once the settlement is finalised and provided the current account is paid up to date.
