Get 50% off when you settle your debt with GMM

“We are looking at both businesses and residential consumers with active and inactive accounts at date of application.”

SECUNDA – If your municipal consumer account is more than 60 days in arrears, the Govan Mbeki Municipality will give you a 50 per cent discount if you settle your account now.

Businesses with debt older than 60 days will receive a discount of 30 per cent when settling the outstanding debt.

Due to the non-payment of municipal rates and taxes and services accounts, the municipality came up with this incentive scheme to help consumers settle their municipal debt. This incentive scheme will be applicable between July 1 and September 30.

“This is a three months’ incentive scheme, and we plead with residents to take advantage of it,” said Mr Donald Green, acting head of communication.

“We are looking at both businesses and residential consumers with active and inactive accounts at the date of application,” he said.

Mr Green also said registered indigent consumers and government departments, including schools and parastatals, may not apply for the incentive scheme.

Consumers must visit the municipal offices for further enquiries or to take advantage of this scheme.
