Vandals cause R1.5m worth of damage to mini substations in Ermelo

ERMELO – Some vandals damaged and stole parts from three mini substations in the industrial area.

According to Mr Mandla Zwane, the spokesman for Msukaligwa Local Municipality, the crime took place over a period of five days.

He said the areas that will be affected are the industrial area, Saratoga and surrounds.

The estimated restoration time is not known.

“The cost of the damages is R1.5m,” Mr Zwane said.

The municipality appealed to residents to report any suspicious people near the substations or in possession of electrical apparatus to the police.
