The four-way-stop on the road to Secunda was officially opened on Thursday, October 21 at 11:00.
Lekwa Municipality was responsible for the repairs.
“Gert Sibande District Municipality funded the repairs,” the administrator, Mr Johann Mettler, said.
It was a bone of contention for many motorists travelling to and from Secunda.
One driver described it as dangerous and frustrating and mentioned the stress involved in navigating past the enormous potholes.
This route carries heavy traffic since workers at Seriti-mine use it, not to mention Standertonians wishing to shop in our neighbouring town.
The number of trucks on the road is a factor as well.
Accidents occur regularly at the turn-off to Heymans Kole and New Denmark Colliery.
WhatsApp-groups are active on rainy days and in misty conditions, warning locals about the perils that could await them.
