The family of the late Ms Nomvula Mtsweni, wants justice for their daughter’s murder.

Ms Mtsweni was reported missing before her body was found dumped in the veld close to Brendan Village on Saturday, 23 October.

She was last seen alive on the evening of 17 October after parking her car inside her yard at Ext 4, eMbalenhle.

According to the police, Ms Mtsweni’s daughter who was inside the house, heard her mom screamed, and when she went outside to check, she saw her mom’s car being driven out of the yard and taking off at high speed.

“We are heart broken as a family. Nomvula’s children are traumatised about what happened to their mother, especially her daughter who heard her last scream before she disappeared.

“She was a friendly person who was always joking and laughing and we ask ourselves, who has done such a terrible thing to her. What was the reason?” said Ms Nurse Ngcobo, the deceased’s older sister.

Ms Mtsweni family wants the perpetrator to be arrested and jailed and hopefully they will find peace in their lives.

A cow herder found Ms Mtsweni’s body.

Community members of extension 4, were also shocked about the incident. They even called a meeting on Monday 26 October, where they decided to revive their neighbourhood watch program.

“We want to buy whistles so we are to use it if there are any suspicious or criminal activities in our area.

“This murder taught us that we need to be vigilant, because if we were patrolling our streets, Ms Mtsweni would be alive today.

“How can someone just come to our area, kidnap a woman without even one of us noticing it, but only her daughter, while our houses are close to each other?

“That’s because we don’t care and forget that tomorrow it can be us or our children who will be victims. Criminals will think our area can be their playing ground if we don’t take action,” said Mr Bongani Rubuluza, a community leader.

No one is yet arrested for Ms Mtsweni’s murder. The police are looking for anyone with information on the whereabouts of the suspect to call Crime Stop on 086001011.
