Political parties in hung municipalities have until Tuesday, November 23, to form coalitions. Govan Mbeki Municipality is one of these municipalities because there is no party that secured 50% of the votes in the local government elections on November 1.
The ANC leadership in the Gert Sibande Region, said they have not approached any party and did any approach them to form coalition government. They said they are looking forward to the coming council meeting.
Ms Lindi Masina, ANC acting regional secretary, also refuted allegations circulating on social media that ANC regional chairman, Mr Muzi Chirwa, has resigned.
“Mr Chirwa is still our chairperson, those allegations are lie,” said Ms Masina.
