Cops find bullet-ridden vehicle on R50
Information was followed up and it was found that the said vehicle was used in an attempted CIT-robber on a G4S vehicle on the R544 near Witbank.
A vehicle used in an attempted cash-in-transit heist (CIT) near Witbank was recovered in Delmas.
A passing motorist informed the Delmas Police about an abandoned Audi Q7 just outside Delmas on Monday night, November 22.
The motorist further informed the police that the vehicle was ridden with bullet holes.
The Delmas Police found the black Audi Q7 parked next to the road, about 1km from the Tutuni Shell Garage on the R50 road towards Delmas.
The registration number was compared with the license disk and it was confirmed that the vehicle was hijacked in Garankuwa.
According to Capt Carla Hartley, corporate communication officer for the Delmas Police, they found that the vehicle had been used in an attempted CIT-heist on a G4S vehicle on the R544 near Witbank.
All role-players were summoned to the scene and the vehicle was searched.
“A backpack containing two cell phones, hats, gloves and a magazine with eleven AK47 live rounds was recovered.
Also inside the vehicle, nine discharged AK47 cartridges were recovered.
The vehicle was booked in at Delmas Police,”, Capt Hartley said in a media statement released on November 23.
