Angel wants to go to Transjoranje School for the Deaf

Marietjie School learner wants to go to Traansoranje School for the Deaf.

Angel Soko (12) is a deaf learner at Marietjie School for Learners with Special Educational Needs and her dream is to go to Transoranje School School for the Deaf in Pretoria.

Angel’s teacher, Ms Rita Meintjes, identified Angel’s ability to learn and Ms Meintjes believes she can go further at Transoranje.

She applied for Angel to get accepted at Transoranje and Angel was accepted, but her family cannot afford it.

Angel needs a sponsor to be able to attend school at Transoranje from next year.

The school fees at Transoranje is about R6 400 a year and the boarding fees is about R15 000 yearly.

Angel’s mother, Ms Lilian Dhlamini, is willing to give half of her monthly salary for her daughter to go to Transoranje.

Ms Dhlamini works at a local supermarket as a cashier.

Angel was born pre-maturely and had been deaf since birth.

She celebrated her 12th birthday at Marietjie School with her classmates, teacher and assistant on Friday, November 26, and they had cake to celebrate the occasion.

Angel said she might become a teacher when she grows up, but she is still deciding.

Anyone interested in sponsoring Angel or giving a donation, can contact Ms Meintjes on 079 951 7435.
