Four lives lost in head-on collision between Bethal and Hendrina

It is believed that one of the drivers may have lost control due to wet weather before the collision.

Four people, including a child, were killed in a head-on collision on the R38 road between Bethal and Hendrina on Sunday, January 2.

The accident involved a light delivery vehicle (LDV) and a sedan. The four were all passengers in the sedan. They all succumbed at the scene.

Both drivers sustained serious injuries and they were rushed to Bethal Provincial Hospital for treatment. Bethal EMS and other relevant emergency services were on the scene.

It is believed that one of the drivers may have lost control due to wet weather before the collision. The investigation into the crash is already underway.

Mpumalanga MEC for Community Safety, Security and Liaison, Mr Vusi Shongwe has called on motorists to obey the rules and also adjust their driving to prevailing conditions on the road.
