Standerton Police find and confiscate mine property
According to information, a mine manager noticed that property in a store room and offices kept on disappearing.
Standerton’s detectives and mine investigators arrested a 51-year-old Seriti Mine employee in connection with possession of stolen property and theft on Tuesday, January 25.
In a media statement by the Provincial Commissioner of Police, Lieut-Gen Semakaleng Daphney Manamela, the police and investigators were applauded.
According to information, a mine manager noticed that property in a store room and offices kept on disappearing.
He instituted an internal investigation and reported the matter to the police.
A team of detectives followed up on the matter and executed a search warrant to the house of the identified suspect on Monday, January 24
The following suspected stolen property were found and confiscated: two LG Smart televisions, solar panels, two white cable wire rolls, four calcium batteries, five wooden brooms, four black hammers, three boxes flush sockets, one driller, two grinders, two grinder chargers, four batteries, three screwdriver sets, one cutting disk set, three boxes lithium, one tool bag, two electrical cables, one water purifying machine, two tv wall mountings, two dual radio units, one heavy duty eyebolt, one truck lamp, one switch box and covers/sockets, two boxes original weather-proof plugs, six yellow paint brushes, three fast cutter bags, one box of clamps and pipes, one box of washing liquid containing 18 bottles, two grey junction boxes, one red box containing tools and switches, as well as one box containing cables ties, brackets, nail and pipe connectors.
The property is worth R100 000.
The suspect was due to appear in the Standerton Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, January 26.
