Athletes of several schools competed in the Mpumalanga Athletics Championship and the Mpumalanga Secondary Schools Championship held at the Secunda Stadium on Saturday, March 5.
The Mpumalanga schools team that will take part in the South African Schools Athletics Championship in Germiston from March 15 to 18 was chosen on Saturday, as well as the South African Junior team for Athletics Mpumalanga that will take part in Potchefstroom from March 31 to April 2, and the senior athletics team that will take part in the South African Championship in Cape Town from April 21 to 23.
Hoërskool Secunda’s athletes who made the teams are Saskia Smith, De Wet Burger, Tsidi Makgato, Twane Kruger, Siyanda Mkhonza,Sharona Klein, Jessica van den Berg, Tiaan de la Rey, Tumelo Molepo and Lumarie du Plessis.
Other athletes of Hoërskool Secunda that will represent Mpumalanga in the rally in Nelspruit are Tsidi Makgato, Twane Kruger, Sonia Tivane, Siyanda Mkhonza, Tshepo Lebotsa, Aphiwe Shabangu, Roxy-Lee Fick, Wege Viljoen, Sharona Klein and Nika Thomas.
Celine Burger of Hoërskool Oosterland will also take part in triple jump at the South African Athletics Championship.
