Man is critically injured when bakkie rolls off road between Bethal and Standerton

Rescue services had to use specialised tools to free the motorist.

A man in his 30s was critically injured when his bakkie rolled off the R38 between Bethal and Standerton this morning, March 17.

According to Russel Meiring, communication officer for ER24 ambulance services, ER24 arrived on the scene at 07:39 to find a bakkie on its side some distance off the road.

On closer inspection, medics found a man trapped inside the bakkie in a critical condition.

Rescue services had to use specialised tools to free the motorist.

“Once released, medics treated the man and provided him with advanced life support interventions before being transported to Mediclinic Highveld for urgent care.”

Meiring said the incident’s details are unknown, but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
